I guess if you had fifteen kids,
you would never go through that
suspenseful period of a few hours preceding
a new birth without excitement.

Our last child was born in
Springfield, Missouri,
and when we had almost completed the speedy
forty-five mile trip to the hospital,
Evelyn said, “You know, I haven’t had much pain.”
Not much pain? And here I was
breaking my neck to get there!

We arrived at the hospital and I waited,
but not for long. A nurse came in and said,
“Mr. Bowman, you have a boy!”
Then I got my first look at Jeremy.
What a thrill to have a new child!

I wonder how God feels when a human is “born again.”
